The Eastern US–Singapore corridor is critical for global banking and finance. Citibank, JPMorgan, and numerous hedge funds operate major hubs in both New York and Singapore. Compliance teams, trading desks, and operations groups convert between EST and SGT multiple times a day.
The standard offset is 13 hours: SGT (UTC+8) minus EST (UTC−5). When it’s 9 AM in New York, it’s 10 PM in Singapore. During US daylight saving time the gap drops to 12 hours because Eastern moves to EDT (UTC−4) while Singapore stays fixed.
The overlap window is narrow but workable. A 7–9 AM Eastern block is 8–10 PM SGT — late but common in finance. Alternatively, 6–8 PM Eastern is 7–9 AM the next day in Singapore, catching the Asian morning.
